Eurovision 2012

Italy: Participation in Baku confirmed?

Eurofestival.ws reports a confirmed participation

According to the Italian news site eurofestival.ws, Italy has officially confirmed its participation in the 2012 contest, to be held in Baku. It will once again be broadcast by RAI.

After Italy’s successful comeback in 2011, when they came second with Raphael Gualazzi’s Madness Of Love, the country was expected to continue its participation in 2012. Though no official announcements were released until this moment, according to eurofestival.ws.
Their entry will once again be decided in the San Remo Festival, which will be held 14th until 18th February 2012. Whether the participant will once again be the winner of the Newcomers Category is not yet known.

There will be some changes in the broadcasting of the international shows in May. Last year, RAI decided to combine their own studio show with the contest in Düsseldorf as an experiment. The studio show was broadcast from Italy with their own audience and special guests. This year, the Italian people will see exactly the same as the rest of Europe.
It is not yet sure which channel will broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. Probably RAI4 or RAI5 will broadcast the semifinal where Italy has to vote. The big final will then be broadcast by RAI2 or RAI3.
