TVR has held an open call for songs for their national selection, where the Romanian Eurovision entrant will be chosen for Baku. They received a total of 109 entries.
This morning, a special jury opened all the envelopes with the received songs, and 46 songs were eliminated from the very start, because they either do not comply with either EBU rules, or the rules of the national selection, or the submitted information TVR required is not full. This leaves 63 songs in the run to represent Romania. However, because of the big number of disqualified songs, TVR gives a chance to all those who entered a song which is in accordance with the EBU rules, to give in the missing documentation until tomorrow morning at 9:30 local time (by e-mail to [email protected], and sending the original documents in by post), because the special jury will start listening to the entries at 10:00.
The jury will now select the best ones to proceed into the national final. No less than 12 and no more than 17 songs will be selected. The national final will take place on the 10th of March.
