With only one week to go until the escXtra team arrive in Baku to begin coverage of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, we decided to get a team of former Eurovision stars together to review the songs competing to be the 60th winner(s) of our beloved contest. First up we have the most successful singer to have represented Belarus, Dmitry Koldun who romped up the scoreboard to a 6th place in Helsinki 2007. Have a look at what he thought about 7 of this year’s songs below.
Germany: Roman Lob – Standing Still
I like this sort of music. When the intro began I thought it sounded a lot like Adele! I think that Germany’s song last year was stronger though as they are close in genre.
Score: 7
Serbia: Željko Joksimović - Nije Ljubav Stvar
Fundamental and sincere from the very first note, with such an introduction the Balkans are keeping the faith in their traditional musical style. The voice goes through your heart and is very touching.
Score: 10
San Marino: Valentina Monetta – The Social Network Song (oh oh uh oh oh)
I’m not a fan of this style of music and at the end of this song, I could not remember anything. It’s quite old-fashioned and sounds like it’s from the late 90’s.
Score: 3
Moldova: Pasha Parfeny – Lăutar
It’s nice but also a little boring. Strange feelings, but I don’t feel anything special.
Score 5
Greece: Eleftheria Eleftheriou – Aphrodisiac
Beautiful girl, burning song.
Score: 8
Slovakia: Max Jason Mai – Don’t Close Your Eyes
Great vocals and music is in style of 30 Seconds to Mars – I fell in love!
I’m ready to vote!
Score: 12
Belarus: Litesound – We Are The Heroes
Great! Love this song! Good luck BELARUS!
Score: 12
We would just like to state that these opinions are that of Dmitry himself, and not of everyone at escXtra. Feel free to give your own opinion in the comments below!
