With the escXtra team arriving in Baku and starting the live coverage, we decided to get a team of former Eurovision stars together to review the songs competing to be the 60th winner(s) of our beloved contest. On day six, the last day, we have Regína Ósk, who represented Iceland in 2008 as part of Euroband, placing 14th with This Is My Life. She also was on the Eurovision stage in 2001, 2003 and 2005 as backing vocalist for the Icelandic entry. She tried for Eurovision again, this time solo, this year with Hjartað Brennur, but didn’t win the ticket.
Have a look at what she thought below! She also gave the songs a score: 1-10.
France: Anggun – Echo (You And I)
I really like the song…..and the video. She is very choc and a very good singer. I would have prefer it all in french. its not a winner, but I like the feel.
Portugal: Filipa Sousa – Vida Minha
It’s not my favorite and usually I’m a fan of portuguese ballads. The backing vocals are strange walking all around her, and it doesn´t do anything for me.
FYR Macedonia: Kaliopi – Crno I Belo
The song is very good, and the singer is cool. but I don’t like the arrangement….it’s a pity with such a cool rock song.
Belgium: Iris – Would You?
This is a very sweet song that I don´t know if it’s strong enough to go through. It’s a great radio song.
Turkey: Can Bonomo – Love Me Back
I like the Turkish instruments, but the song is not my cup of tea.The melody It’s not strong enough.
Russia: Buranovskiye Babushki – Party For Everybody
I don’t know what to say This is a good entertainment and a fun act for all the family. It will probably be in the top15 in the final.
The Netherlands: Joan Franka – You And Me
I really like this song and the lyrics. It´s simple and I love her voice. This will probably be a radio hit and this is a song that I would like to buy her CD.
We would just like to state that these opinions are that of Regína herself, and not of everyone at escXtra. Feel free to give your own opinion in the comments below!
