SVT has received a total of 2,549 songs for this year’s Melodifestivalen, all hoping to be picked as the entry to represent Sweden on home soil in May. The deadline for submitting entries passed this morning, with Christer Björkman describing the turnout as “wonderful”.
It is now up to an internal SVT jury to pick 15 of these songs to go forward to the senifinals. An additional 16 acts and songs will be chosen, and invited, directly by SVT, whilst Terese Fredenwall was already chosen as the winner of “Svensktoppen Nästa 2012″. The final list of songs is expected next month.
