Italy: Participation Confirmed

News has today leaked that Italian broadcaster RAI will definitely be taking part in next year’s Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster was set to announce it officially in a press release later this week, however the news has already surfaced.

RAI made their Eurovision comeback in 2011, having previously not participated since 1997, and finished second. Last year in Baku Nina Zilli ninth. There is no confirmation as of yet as to how Italy will pick their Eurovision entry, although it is highly likely that they will continue to use the San Remo festival in some way. The act could not come from ‘The Voice’ as this show is not scheduled to finish until March.

As one of the bigger contributors to the EBU, Italy remain in the ‘big five’.
