As we reported earlier, MRT announced that their choice for Malmö will be known by the end of the year. After names such as Tamara Todevska, Magdalena Cvetkovska, etc… being rumoured to represent Macedonia in Eurovision next year, MRT decided to send Vlatko Lozanoski and Esma Redžepova.
Both Vlatko and Esma tried to represent their home country in the past – Vlatko tried twice, in 2009 and 2010, finishing fourth in both occasions. The 69 year old Esma tried to represent Yugoslavia various times, and was the runner-up in the Macedonian selection in 2006, together with Adrian Gaxha who represented Macedonia in 2008.
Esma is very well known around the world for her music and her humanitary work. She has published a total of 20 albums, acted in six movies, and released over 100 singles in her career. She is also known for having 52 children – five of her own, and 47 adopted, and she was also a nominee for the Nobel Peace Price in 2003.
Vlatko and Esma will represent Macedonia in one of the two semi finals in Malmö. You can listen to their last tries in Skopje Fest here:
