The hype is all Sweden, but let’s not rule out their brothers to the west: Norway. Eleven songs will compete for the Norwegian ticket to Vienna. Among the participants: a praised composer, a former Eurovision winner teaming up with a nul pointer, a duo setting bookmakers on fire and a song about pizza. If you want variety, surely Norway is a good bet tonight. Mørland & Debrah Scarlett seem to be the favourites tonight, but Staysman & Lazz are chasing them if we should believe bookmakers. It’s all up for grabs in Norway! The show is 100% televote and will start at 20:25 CET.

The line-up:

  1. Erlend Bratland – Thunderstruck
  2. Raylee – Louder
  3. Tor & Bettan – All Over The World
  4. Jenny Langlo – Next To You
  5. Ira Konstantinidis – We Don’t Worry
  6. Contrazt – Heaven
  7. Marie Klåpbakken – Ta Meg Tilbake
  8. Staysman & Lazz – En Godt Stekt Pizza
  9. Mørland & Debrah Scarlett – A Monster Like Me
  10. Alexandra Joner – Cinderella
  11. Karin Park – Human Beings

So the televote is split up in five regions, as always.

Nick van Lith
March 14, 201510:34 pm

Bobbysocks remains to be one of my favourite winners ever. Also, I’m hoping she gets the victory here…

Nick van Lith
March 14, 201510:32 pm

Thankfully they closed televoting after those clips, because Bettan (yes, superfinalist Bettan) is now performing her 1985 winner with Hanne Krogh.

Nick van Lith
March 14, 201510:30 pm

Each contestant is asked to pick their favourite winner. The promotion Bettan gives herself by talking about Bobbysocks may be good for her.

Nick van Lith
March 14, 201510:28 pm

On Twitter, there’s some good support for Morland and Debrah. Possibly people who’ve only seen Sweden and have the studio version in mind?

Nick van Lith
March 14, 201510:23 pm

Still flat and nothingy to me, but it’s getting a massive cheer. I really have no idea who’s going to win this. If the older generation of Norway is tuning in here, Tor&Bettan may be in with a shot, Staysman&Lazz get the youth vote and the other two can get votes anywhere. But will they? This is exciting!

Nick van Lith
March 14, 201510:19 pm

So there we are: Erlend Bratland, Tor&Bettan, Morland&Debrah Scarlett and Staysman & Lazz make it through!

ERLEND BRATLAND

March 14, 201510:17 pm

Superfinalist #4, the last one…

Nick van Lith
March 14, 201510:15 pm

One of my best friends, Thom, now sees this live for the first time. He says it’s possibly one of the best songs of the season in studio, but it just does not work live. I completely agree. This does nothing live.

Nick van Lith
March 14, 201510:10 pm

MORLAND & DEBRAH SCARLETT

Nick van Lith
March 14, 201510:10 pm

Superfinalist #3…

Nick van Lith
March 14, 201510:09 pm

En Godt Stekt Pizza is being performed again. Epic and messy (and shit) as ever.

Nick van Lith
March 14, 201510:04 pm

STAYSMAN & LAZZ

Nick van Lith
March 14, 201510:03 pm

Second qualifier now…

Nick van Lith

Tor & Bettan are now performing again. I ENJOY THIS. YES.

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:56 pm

TOR & BETTAN

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:55 pm

Who’s going to the superfinal? Finalist #1 is…

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:48 pm

Recap now! So time to guess which four will make the superfinal…

Morland&Debrah Scarlett
Staysman & Lazz
Tor & Bettan
Karin Park

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:41 pm

Done with all the songs then!

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:37 pm

Karin Park – Human Beings

Karin is very nervous here, almost sounding like a child here. I expected more from her… The staging is simple, and not really effective. It’s all a bit meh. For me, this is one of the better songs tonight, but, like Morland and Debrah, lacking on staging.

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:34 pm

Up next is the last song tonight, Karin Park!

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:33 pm

Alexandra Joner – Cinderella

No, no, no, no. This is exactly what I was afraid of. She starts off on a swing high in the sky, all pink and weird. A cheap Rihanna here. I just… no.

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:30 pm

Next up is Alexandra Joner!

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:29 pm

Mørland & Debrah Scarlett – A Monster Like Me

Poor, poor Mørland. He’s nailing it vocally, but Debrah is completely off. Way off. Other side of the world off. Her look is also pretty damn terrible… My goodness grief, how to ruin a winner. There’s nothing happeneing on stage, the magic of the video has disappeared and it didn’t even get a massive cheer… Is this in danger of losing out now?

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:26 pm

Here come the favourites, Mørland & Debrah Scarlett

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:24 pm

Staysman & Lazz – En Godt Stekt Pizza

Rap meets Rednex. What a mess. It apparently is a massive crowd favourite as the cheering doesn’t stop for the entire three minutes. It’s all over the place, really, no idea what this is doing. Erm… right. Maybe this would be refreshing for Eurovision, but boy would the fanworld go insane!

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:20 pm

Time for the 2nd favourites tonight: Staysman & Lazz. No idea how they’re staging this.

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:18 pm

Marie Klåpbakken – Ta Meg Tilbake

I really enjoy this – can’t go wrong with a good violin solo. The staging is simple, yet effective, the dress Marie is wearing is great, she’s looking good, also with the violin. Only thing is her higher notes, which… she misses. Completely.

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:13 pm

Now we’re up for the first song in Norwegian: Te Meg Tilbake!

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:11 pm

Contrazt – Heaven

A proper dansband/schlager, 80s/90s, whatever you want to call it kind of song here! Good vocals from Gro Anita, a decent, yet simple staging. I enjoy this, but it could easily fit as soundtrack of some 90s daytime TV show…

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:08 pm

Well then, Bettan is trending worldwide!

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:05 pm

After a short greenroom break, we’re going to move on: Contrazt!

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:03 pm

Ira Konstantinidis – We Don’t Worry

Ira, girl, don’t worry about missing school in May. You can go to school without any problems 🙂 She’s so nervous, the poor thing, I don’t think she’s hit a single note. Or she really doesn’t worry about anything, like song quality or vocal skills, cause they’re both lacking. Next.

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20159:00 pm

Here we go with Ira Konstantinidis, song five.

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20158:59 pm

Don’t forget you can let us know your favourites on Twitter (@escXtra). @eurovision_60 lets us know his favourites so far are: tor&bettan by a country mile

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20158:56 pm

Jenny Langlo – Next To You

All dressed up in a black safety vest and plastic pants, here’s former Idol winner Jenny. Her song is pretty decent and vocally she’s spot on. The song is rather dark in the verses, with quite a bright and bursting chorus. I quite like this, but the cheer isn’t half as big as for Tor&Bettan.

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20158:53 pm

Up next is the lovely Jenny Langlo.

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20158:53 pm

Tor & Bettan – All Over The World

Well well, Tor&Bettan really go all out here! Enjoying themselves, giving it all vocally (which, for Bettan, doesn’t always work…). And they just have an entire children’s choir on stage for the final chorus.
I know I shouldn’t, but I love this. This Christmassy cheesefest is just brilliance by numbers. It’s chanceless, but I want this to do well. Massive cheer from the audience.

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20158:47 pm

Here comes our former winner. Tor & Bettan!!

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20158:46 pm

Raylee – Louder

Staging issues for Raylee here. She sould bring this song like she were a princess of pop: young, fresh, bright – like Katy Perry still does. Not this dark with this haircut.
It’s a typical modern pop song, but without the oomph or the hook…

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20158:42 pm

Right, moving on. Here comes Raylee!

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20158:40 pm

Erlend Bratland – Thunderstruck

This is the third favourite with bookmakers and that’s before they’ve heard him do this live. It’s rather flat and unimpressive live… The verses are dark, lacklustre, the chorus a typical pop/dance/Scandi tune like we’ve seen so many before. It reminds me of Robin Stjernberg’s You and that’s no surprise as it’s by the same composers. Erlend doesn’t seem to carry this well. At all… I think (/hope) he may just have ruined his chances.

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20158:39 pm

Here we go, song 1 is Erlend Bratland!

Nick van Lith
March 14, 20158:31 pm

We’re starting off with an odd choice: Dschinghis Khan, the 1979 German Eurovision entry… God knows why.
