Simon Cowell ‘interested’ in leading UK selection

It’s already been a week since the Eurovision final and whilst this week has seen major chart success for many of this year’s entries including Måns Zelmerlöw’s winning song ‘Heroes’, the UK entry ‘Still In Love With You’ has had no such impact after plummeting the scoreboard with only 5 points.
The UK’s disappointing result has sparked media coverage which saw leading newspaper The Sun publish a double page spread earlier in the week demanding that the BBC change their strategy. However, The Mirror has since reported that music mogul Simon Cowell has expressed his interest in taking charge of the UK’s selection.
Speaking to the tabloid, the X Factor judge who is responsible for kick starting the careers of acts such as Leona Lewis, One Direction & Little Mix revealed that he has considered the challenge.

““One hundred per cent I’d love to take the reins for Eurovision. I have thought about it.
“The idea of taking it on for one year and trying to get someone to represent the UK, someone new – I’d love that.”

“The winner had a proper record, the staging was great.”
