The first artist for the 2016 edition of Melodifestivalen has been revealed this afternoon.
Smajling Swedes will be the first entry for next year’s Swedish National Final. Chosen by a jury, the trio has participated to Svensktoppen nästa, a competition from the national radio P4 open to all newcomers in songwriting.
By official rules of Melodifestivalen, a new unheard song will be submitted in the next months to be sung in the competition next February.
The song by Smajling Swedes in the competition was called Goosebumps and can be heard here.
The trio, composed by Arvid Ångtröm, Dennis Babic and Oscar Juhola performs a genre called “Tropical House”.
