It’s a day of returns, as FYR Macedonia have announced they’ll be returning to an internal selection for 2016. And they immediately announced their artist: It’s Kaliopi!

On her Facebook page, Kaliopi states:

Hello Eurovision Song Contest, I am back! See you in Stockholm 2016!

It’s not the biggest shock of the day, but still. Kaliopi’s name had been rumoured for a while after the praise she received for her qualification in 2012. Back then, Crno I Belo turned into a true fan favourite.

It’ll be Kaliopi’s third Eurovision song. Back in 1996, she failed to get her country through the preliminary round, but in 2012, her success was much bigger. The 48 year old is one of her country’s biggest stars and it’ll no doubt be a pleasant surprise for many to see her return to Eurovision.

Kaliopi’s song will be revealed at a later date. It has been announced that the song will be written by Romeo Grill. Grill was also behind her 2012 entry.

For now, here’s her 2012 entry Crno I Belo once more, the song that brought her a 12th place in Baku.

Hooray! Kaliopi was amazing in 2012. I can’t wait to see what she will bring in 2015, maybe Stockholm won’t be a washout after all!
