The 2004 Eurovision Song Contest gave us so much, both good and bad. One of the good things it gave us was a wonderful voice from the north, and ever since, this song has been a prerequisite for getting in the Christmas spirit for quite a few of us. And since Christmas is just a week away; here we go!

Jónsi represented Iceland in the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest in Istanbul. He finished 19th, receiving only 16 points for “Heaven”. He retutned to the contest in 2012, when he performed “Never Forget” with Greta Salóme. They qualified for the grand final, but finished in a disappointing 20th place, with 46 points.

I'm Norwegian, presently living in Iceland. My mom loves Eurovision, and always let me stay up to watch the contest since before I can remember, so I'm "second generation Eurovision lunatic". My musical god is David Bowie, so I'm obviously not into the stereotypical Eurovision songs. I prefer the rocky/bluesy/jazzy/ethnic songs over schlager and mainstream ballads, though I occasionally surprise myself (and others)... I HATE canned drums and "Cvet Z juga". Photo © Tobias König
