Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20169:59 pm

It’s gonna be Freddy… (Just tryingto mentally prepare myself for the utter disaster *that* will be…)

Desperately hoping the Norwegian people will show a bit of sense and vote Laila…

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20169:55 pm

This one I know. Mil etter mil, last place in 1978, Jahn Teigen. My God I really have a weird memory for Eurovision stuff.

Nathan Waddell
February 27, 20169:54 pm

Hello! I feel I have to ask – who’s going to win Wiv and Matteo? I’ve got my own hope…

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20169:52 pm

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20169:51 pm

sammendrag 🙂

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20169:51 pm

And now we have a rendition of Voi voi, the first ever Norwegian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest, back in 1960.

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20169:47 pm

Kort samdrag (don’t know whether it’s spelt like this) is the Norwegian version of Snabb repris.

And Laila Samuels should really tone down her gesturing that doesn’t fit the song.

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20169:47 pm

So; if any of you want to get a little greeting from one of the Norwegian finalists in your mailbox, all you need to do is pop into escXtra’s instagram, find the pic of the poscards and answer our question! (It’s *really* easy!)

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20169:42 pm

Seriously, Freddy, come shopping with me. You can’t afford to be dressed like that.

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20169:41 pm

Last gold finalist… Freddy Kalas!

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20169:34 pm

Third finalists: Agnete – Icebreaker. Shocker.

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20169:33 pm

Wiv, go with a question about one of your personal favourites from Norway, I’d say!

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20169:33 pm

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20169:32 pm

Oh, and I forgot to say that we also have a bunchof postcards from the artists. Not sure what you’ll have to do to get them, though… What do you think, Matteo?

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20169:28 pm

I agree. No dishes here though, so bathroom break methinks.

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20169:27 pm

And unfortunately in guld final we have also Suite 16 with Anna Lee. It’s the moment for me to put away the dishes then.

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20169:23 pm

I’m soooo happy!

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20169:22 pm

Laila Samuels is now singing again her song Afterglow.

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20169:22 pm

Thank you love, don’t be too mediterranean.

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20169:20 pm

First name: Laila Samuels

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20169:19 pm

And now we have the finalists to the Guld Final.

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20169:14 pm

And the voting has just ended!

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20169:14 pm

And now we have the Oslo philarmonic choir with Mørland and Debrah Scarlett singing “A monster like me”. Unfortunately, I don’t think Norway will get a good placing like last year.

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20169:14 pm

This is still the best song Norway has ever sent to Eurovision, and I’ll never understand why it didn’t win.

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20169:12 pm

My sister told me to “catch him and lock him in a closet somewhere”… I’m thinking of slipping him a valium…

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20169:11 pm

Same outfit, “new” hair

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20169:10 pm

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20169:10 pm

KATE!!!! MITT LIV!!!

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20169:09 pm

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20169:09 pm

The excitement of the “music chief” is a bit too much. Honey, you got 3 songs that are acceptable out of 10, I wouldn’t be so happy.

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20169:07 pm

So who’s going to win? We will know in 50 mins.

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20169:03 pm

10. Agnete – Icebreaker

I listen to the verses and think “this is nice” and then the refrain starts and I think “woah this is clearly not the same song”. She’s probably pulling a Margaret Berger with that dress and look. She’s good at singing – apart when she has to put more effort and try a high note. This is nice, but clearly not good enough.

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:58 pm

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20168:57 pm

And next up is Agnete. Beware because she is the favourite at the betting odds.

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20168:57 pm

9. Suite 16 – Anna Lee

Anna Lee goes hand in hand with the name Emily. Both are two syllables name that are widely used in songs because it’s easier to put them in music. They really look like One Direction with Norwegian features. I’m too old for this things. Nice pleasant song, but please, let’s keep it in Norway.

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:57 pm

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:55 pm

And it’s a shame with the cute kid who can’t sing…

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:54 pm

Freddy Kalas just sent a message to russ.no, which is the main site for Norwegian graduating students…begging for votes. And they will give him what he asks for. We have a winner…

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20168:51 pm

8. Elouiz – History

Better ballad than whatever that was a few minutes ago. But it gets easily boring.

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:49 pm

Matteo; I love you!

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20168:46 pm

7. Laila Samuels – Afterglow

I like this song and I really liked the staging, she has to improve how to stay on a stage without looking constipated, but well. Not everyone curates everything in detail.
If she gets better at that, this would be my first choice for Stockholm.

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:45 pm

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:45 pm

I really love this song. It sounds kinda Icelandic, and that’s always a good thing. She’s not as good now as she was during the dress rehearsal, though. Hopefully it’s enough to get her through to the gold final, so that she can do it again!

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20168:41 pm

6. Freddy Kalas – Feel Da Rush

I can’t afford to dress myself like that, and I’m probably 20 years younger. (Turns out we are the same age. Good God what happened to you).
I will listen to the Studio version of this song without a) thinking about who’s singing it b) thinking about this staging that not even the cheapest holiday resort would have thought of.
Good singer, but this could be considered cultural appropriation and he is bloody sweating a lot.

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:40 pm

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:40 pm

If this wins I might just apply for Icelandic citizenship… (PLEASE tell me this won’t win..!!!)

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:38 pm

I refuse. REFUSE I tell you.

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20168:37 pm

I thought my gesturing was exaggerated then they started introducing the song with this excitement and I realised that I’m not that bad.

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:35 pm

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20168:33 pm

5. Pegasus – Anyway

I’m sorry Norway, but you are better than this. This is a sort of Aerosmith ballad without the movie endorsement. So it’s the safe and bland version of “I don’t wanna miss a thing”. Shut this down.

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:32 pm

This one is dreadful. And the next one is even worse. I need the bathroom. And wine. A lot of wine…

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:31 pm

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20168:29 pm

4. Makeda – Stand Up

Visually it looks very good and the backing seem to know what they’re doing. I don’t know who told her to pick a dress like that, though.
I’m not against this song, but we have been inundated in 60s soul sounding things thanks to Meghan Trainor (or whatever her name is), so for once, let’s spare ourself this.

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:25 pm

This next one is soooo much fun!! I LOVE 60s soul!

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:24 pm

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20168:22 pm

3. Stine Hole UllaTraces

It’s a no from me. Let’s move on.

(Disney ballad, good voice, but I’d rather spend three minutes in another way)

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:21 pm

Looks more like she’s standing in a dinosaur’s mouth… (Sorry!)

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:19 pm

And now we’ll get a Disney princess in a flower…

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:19 pm

Have to admit that this song sounds more like One (eh…Wrong…) Direction than proper Stage Dolls… 🙁

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20168:18 pm

2. Stage Dolls – Into the Fire

I mean. I don’t want to be rude, but the song is very nice, but sounds too… young for the group. Ok, you can kill me for this.
…though I have to admit that this is one of the few that I remember from listening to the songs. I don’t mind it, but it’s a bit too Vanilla for me.

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:17 pm

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:16 pm

And my childhood hero Torstein Flakne of Stage Dolls starts off MILES out of tune… He quickly gets back on track, but that was painful…

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20168:16 pm

Stage Dolls are now on stage!

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20168:12 pm

1. The Hungry Hearts feat. Lisa Dillan – Laika

The enter marching on stage with hot pink and gold dresses, a CAR passes by and they keep marching. I want to remind everyone that this song refers to Laika, the soviet space dog, and that refers to “The streets of Moscow with my girlfriend”.
I want to see this to Stockholm. I have been singing it all day. You can’t hate this.

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:10 pm

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:08 pm

And speaking of madness;

Song number 1

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:07 pm

Madness!

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20168:07 pm

It was on screen. I thought I misread but I’m pretty sure it was written Knut…

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:07 pm

KNUT Magnus?! NONONONONO!

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20168:06 pm

Wiv, why is he called KNUT MANGUS too? I am confused.

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20168:05 pm

Thank you Kåre Magnus for reminding us that tonight a hundred other countries pick. Three months with nothing going on and now BAM.

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:04 pm

Hihihi, Matteo; Kåre Magnus didn’t get the memo…

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20168:04 pm

Ten artists, one ticket to Stockholm. Who will win?

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20168:03 pm

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20168:01 pm

Ok, didn’t expect Kåre Magnus dressed as Conchita. I thought we stopped impersonating Conchita in December 2015.

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20167:57 pm

So, the opening is all about a secret Norwegian mission to get the Swedish secret on how to win Eurovision so easily. I can understand half of the things, but well.

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20167:56 pm

Silya and Kåre Magnus are on a mission to find out the secret behind the Swedish success…

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20167:56 pm

After the dress rehersal I met with some of the artists; quick messages from them on our instagram

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20167:56 pm

Te deum!

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20167:54 pm

No wine for me tonight, until at the afterparty, so I will be intensely boring… Hihihi!

Wivian Kristiansen
February 27, 20167:53 pm

So; I was at the dress rehearsal earlier tonight, and can promise you a couple of surprises, both regarding performances and inerval acts…

Matteo Manta
February 27, 20167:52 pm

And we are waiting for the live to start in Norway, while Sweden is doing its Snabb repris. Get ready because I can’t seem to be able to say serious things tonight.

Italian in the UK, with a strong preference for Sweden. I support myself tweeting (not even joking) - and that's why Social Media is my kingdom. Drama tends to follow me, hence why I really feel connected to the #skandal and #fiasko hashtags.
