With the London Eurovision Party 2016 just under a month away, our next booking comes from Romania as Ovidiu Anton has confirmed his place at the Café de Paris on Sunday 17 April.

Ovidiu Anton / Romania - London Eurovision Party 2016

Ovidiu Anton was born on February 24th, 1983. He started singing at a very early age and studied guitar and piano, aside vocal lessons. He grew up loving rock bands of the 70’s and the 80’s and will represent Romania in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.

Ovidiu’s passion is rock music; writing it, singing it, and now it is in his blood. In 1998, he started his first band, Carpe Diem, but that journey was not very long, since there were not many open doors for new rock acts in the music industry in Romania at that time.

In 2005, he took part in one of the greatest music TV shows of all times in Romania, Stars’ School. Winning that show brought him closer to his mentor Titus Munteanu. This was a turning point in his career. Ovidiu also represented Romania at the Golden Stag and became involved in private events as a solo act.

In 2008, he started to perform with a very cool cover band Pasager and rocked many clubs. He also began to be interested in the Eurovision Song Contest, and finally, after four national finals, the fifth one turned into a success!

You can watch Moment of Silence from the Romanian national final, Selecția Națională 2016, here:

Technical Lead: I am a huge pop music fan and I love Rihanna, Years & Years, Sia, Zara Larsson and Sam Smith. However, more importantly, I love Eurovision. Melodifestivalen is my favourite National Final and if things look out of place on the website, it's most definitely my fault.
