Today sees the second rehearsal period for each of the songs in semifinal 2. They each have 20 minutes on stage, providing time for two or three runthroughs of each song.

Germany first rehearsal:

Jamie-Lee stands alone on stage with an outfit and staging very similar to the official preview video. Vocally this is steady- the backing vocalists are hidden and Jamie-Lee stays central on the stage at first, before walking to one side in the second verse. There are leafless tree branches on stage, but we could do with a little more smoke to hide their trolley wheels on the low shots!
At the end, Jamie-Lee moves forward to the satellite stage.

Italy first rehearsal:

Francesca stands in a row of flowers on stage and she doesn’t move from the mic stand, on screen there are cartoony snapchatlike graphics of hearts and stars. It sounds kooky but it all rather works. She stands in a small patch of garden and is surrounded by sticks that hold all sorts of bits and pieces. 2 lemons, a seagull, glass jewels etc. Vocally, Francesca and the hidden backing singers are precise and smooth. It is quite an enchanting performance. Fresh.

UK first rehearsal:

This is reasonably good, you know. No winner, but for the UK, refreshingly young and sympathetically done.  They are wearing black jeans and casual jackets, with long grey and white tees. The two drummers are on metre-high blocks which are lit up blue and pink. The colour theme is similar throughout, with multiple selfies filling the back screens.
