Polish popstar Margaret, one of the most talked about artists of this year’s Eurovision season despite not even making it to the contest, has unveiled her brand new single to follow-up her previous single Cool Me Down which saw Margaret achieve Scandinavian success for the first time, reaching the Swedish singles top 40.

The brand new single in question is titled Elephant and received its live television premiere at the ESKA Music Awards which took place in Szczecin on Friday evening. Margaret was also taking part in the awards show as a nominee, winning Best Web Artist and also being nominated in the Best Hit (with Cool Me Down) and Best Female Artist categories. Elephant was then released officially yesterday following her performance. It is another pop hit, written and produced by a team of Margaret herself, Joakim Buddee and Thomas Karlsson. Buddee and Karlsson also composed the majority of Margaret’s most recent album Add The Blonde including smash hit Thank You Very Much.

At the beginning of her performance of Elephant at the ESKA Music Awards, Margaret gave us a little taste of Cool Me Down which famously finished in 2nd place at the 2016 Polish national final Krajowe Eliminacje. Margaret was strong favourite to win the national final, and at the same time Poland had become favourites to win the Eurovision Song Contest itself. Nevertheless, it was Michał Szpak who took a shock victory and his entry Color Of Your Life went on to finish in a very strong 8th position for Poland at Eurovision, which included a top 3 finish in the televote. This was Poland’s third best result in their Eurovision history, with only Ich Troje’s 7th place in 2003 and Edyta Górniak’s 2nd place in 1994 beating Michał’s result.

What are your memories of Krajowe Eliminacje 2016 and are you liking Margaret’s brand new single? Let us know below!

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
