Maro wins Festival da Canção 2022 with “saudade, saudade”

The final national final winner of the season has been chosen!

Tonight, the final three national finals of the Eurovision 2022 season took place. The last country of all to select their entry was Portugal. Maro won Festival da Canção 2022 with “saudade, saudade”, which will represent Portugal in Turin in May.

The second semi-final of Festival da Canção 2022 took place on Monday night. Ten acts competed for the final five places at the Grand Final. A professional jury and the Portuguese public decided the remaining five finalists based on a 50/50 system. The first set of finalists were chosen last Saturday.

Tonight, Portugal’s entry for Eurovision 2022 was determined by a 50/50 jury/televote split. The jury vote comprised of the seven regional juries (Lisbon, North, Central, Alentejo, Algarve, Madeira and the Azores). Their points were combined from those of the Portuguese public.

According to the rules, the televote takes precedence in the event of a tie for first place, as was the case last year.
