Unique feat for a Eurovision release

“Burning Daylight” becoming the Q Music Alarmschijf is good news for Mia Nicolai and her partner in crime Dion. It means Q Music, one of the leading radio station in the Netherlands, will give the song more airplay in the upcoming week. The extra attention will, normally also lead to an increase in streaming and sales numbers. As a result of that, the song is expected to make its début on the official charts next week. Only a handful of Alarmschijven failed to make it onto the Top 40 in its 54 years of history.

Becoming the Alarmschijf so quickly after its release is a unique feat for a Eurovision entry. The two most recent Alarmschijven that were Eurovision entries were both UK entries. Both “Love Shine A Light” and “Space Man” became the Alarmschijf after the Eurovision Song Contest in May. The last time a Dutch entry became the Alarmschijf before the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 1996: Maxine & Franklin Brown achieved it with “De Eerste Keer”.
