Just yesterday evening Belarus selected Daniel Aleks Yastremsky to represent the country on home soil. Furthermore, also yesterday, BTRC aired a documentary that included glimpses of this year’s Junior Eurovision stage design.
Main stage, satellite stage and an LED wall
This year’s Junior Eurovision stage in Minsk Arena features a large main stage a smaller satellite stage located on the left of the main one. Besides, a large LED wall will be in the back of the main stage. Moreover, a large circular screen will also be on top of the main stage and there will be plenty of spots for lights around it.
The green room will also be the arena with the audience having the chance to see it. The documentary also included the design of the green room with 20 round sofas that will seat the entrants.
Stage construction to begin in early November
Stage construction in Minsk Arena will likely begin in early November. As we previously reported, hockey club HC Dinamo Minsk will move to another venue for three matches to ensure the preparations for Junior Eurovision go smoothly. With a capacity of 15,000 people, Minsk Arena is one of the biggest venues that hosted Junior Eurovision.
Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018
Belarus’s capital Minsk will be the host of the 2018 edition of Junior Eurovision. This is the second time the event takes place in the city, that previously hosted it in 2010. A record-breaking 20 countries will participate in Minsk on November 25. Wales and Kazakhstan will both make a debut with Kazakhstan participating for the first time to any Eurovision related event. Furthermore, the contest will also feature three returning countries: France, that last participated in 2004, Azerbaijan that last participated in 2013 and Israel that last participated in 2016. Unfortunately, Cyprus instead confirmed its withdrawal from the competition.
