How was it selected?
In 2013, Austria held a national final to decide which of the five entries which had been selected by ORF. The show was called Österreich rockt den Song Contest and the entry was selected by 50% televoting and 50% jury, of which our Chief Editor, Luke Fisher, was one of the members.
Natália Kelly was selected as the winner of the selection with her song “Shine”. She was second in the jury vote, where she picked up 32 out of a possible 100, with Yela being the jury favourite with 34 points. Natália then received the highest vote in the televote (38 points out of 100, against 16 for Yela) and was crowned the winner by a clear margin ahead of her rivals with a total of 70 points out of 200.
Trackshittaz were chosen by the Austrian public to represent them in Baku but didn’t qualify from their semifinal, finishing in last place in Semifinal 1 with just 8 points. 5 of those points came from Switzerland, 2 from Belgium and 1 from Iceland.
