Copenhagen 2014

Russia, Belarus and Ukraine against Conchita Wurst

Earlier in 2013 the All-Russian Parent Meeting initiated a petition calling on Russia to cut its broadcast of Eurovision 2014 because of the Austrian representative Conchita Wurst. More than 15000 people from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine have already signed the petition on Change.org which was sent to the Ministry of Communication of Russia. The petition says:

“Austria will be represented in the Eurovision 2014 by the transvestite contestant Conchita Wurst who leads the lifestyle inapplicable for the Russians. The popular international competition that our children will be watching has become a hotbed of sodomy at the initiation of the European liberals. Russia is one of the only European countries that has managed to maintain normal and healthy family values based on love and mutual support between MEN and WOMEN. That is why we are against the Eurovision 2014 to be broadcast in Russia…”

There have been several rumours about Russia withdrawing from the contest lately according to “Moscow’s Echo”.  As the organizer of the petition and the representative of the All-Russian Parent Meeting, German Avdyushkin, says, ” Eurovision has gone beyond all the limits. Broadcasting such a person by our national channel is against the Constitution of the Russian Federation according to which our children must be protected from people of non-traditional sexual orientation”.
