Listen to the 14 snippets below!

This year for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, VRT (Vlaamse Radio – en Televisieomroeporganisatie) has decided to return to their National Final: Eurosong. The contest will take place every day on 9th-13th January with a live final on 14th January 2023. 14 song snippets that will be taking part in Eurosong have been released to the public!

VRT did not accept song submissions for their national selection from the general public. This was due to a high volume of interested participants wanting to represent Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest. Instead of having open registrations, VRT scouted a vast group of record labels and managers to find potential candidates for Eurosong 2023.

There are 7 artists hoping to represent Belgium at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest and each artist is participating in Eurosong with two songs. Here are the artists and song titles:

Ameerah – The Carnival
Ameerah – Armageddon
Chérine – Ca m’ennuie pas (It doesn’t bother me)
Chérine – Mon étoile (My star)
gala dragot – emotion ollie
gala dragot – t‘inquiète (don’t worry)

Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest

Belgium has a long history of participations at Eurovision, as it was one of the seven countries that debuted at the very first edition in 1956. Since then, it has participated 63 times and made 53 Grand Final appearances, claiming their sole victory in 1986. After a string of non-qualifications in the early 2000s, Belgium achieved an impressive Top 10 streak from 2015-2017, with two top 4 placings in 2015 and 2017. In 2022, Jérémie Makiese represented Belgium in Turin with his song “Miss You”. He placed 19th in the Grand Final and received 64 points.
