Another week comes to a close as the nights draw in. However the Summer still shines on this New Music Friday! After seven years away Spain’s former Eurovision 2003 star Beth returns with the refreshing, forest anthem, ‘Que Tremolin els Arbres.’

Beth returns with ‘Que Tremolin els Arbres’

After seven years away, raising a family and starting a children’s clothing business, Beth Rodergas or Beth as we know her, returns to music! Most people are used to having their knees trembled. However Beth is here to tremble the trees in ‘Que Tremolin els Arbres’. Which translates in English to ‘Let The Trees Tremble’.

With the help of Suriana, David Ros, Albert Solà, Beth is channelling her Catalan woodland spirit. The song is a hopeful anthem that captures the mood of 2020. Always trying to see the light through the trees and hope in the darkest times. This is rooted in Beth’s floaty Catalonian vocals, while being wrapped in the bark of a Summery castanets melody. That hope is made evident in the video with the Blanca Tolsá dance troupe acting as Beth’s guiding light through the trees.

Beth in the Eurovision Song Contest

Back in 2002 Beth Rodergas became a household name in the famous Spanish music reality show Operación Triunfo. Although she only finished third in the contest, she was still seen as the best choice in a separate vote to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003. So it seemed the rest of Europe agreed too! During the contest Beth finished in 8th place with the Latin bop ‘Dime’. Still this remains Spain’s third best result in the 21st Century. Only Ramón, Pastora Soler and Ruth Lorenzo have managed top 10 results since. Can Blas Cantó change the country’s fortunes in 2021?

After the contest Beth went on to release several albums. As well as spending time living in London, which coincided with the release of English album My Own Way Home. At the turn of the last decade she released her first Catalan language album Segueix-me el fil. In 2013 she released her last album Familia and took a break from music. Since then she has turned her craft to acting, writing, raising two children and creating her own children’s fashion line Littlelia.

Next year Beth plans to release her fifth album. Although there’s no date or title as yet, already the tracks are in mind. These will be in a mix of English, Spanish and Catalan languages. As well as new songs and those composed many years ago. Such as songs written during her twenties while in the UK and left stashed away in a draw until now.
