Last night, Azerbaijan had the first ‘semifinal’ of Böyük Səhnə, the show that will select the 2014 entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest. Ten singers advanced to the second show.
All singers performed a cover song. Various genres were chosen, from the Greek Eurovision entry in 2012, Aphrodisiac to Duffy’s song Mercy. The ten singers with the highest score from the juries advanced to next week’s show, the bottom four was eliminated. The full ranking can be found below, with the qualifiers in bold:

The second round of Böyük Səhnə will take place next week, on 16 February at 19:00 CET. The ten qualifiers will then try to advance to the next round.
