“It would be amazing to represent my country… thinking of it gives me goose pimples!” – Eoghan Quigg [Interview]

Song 2 for Ireland is “The Movie Song” performed by Eoghan Quigg, who is no stranger to competing in song contests!
The 21 year old had this to say:
escXtra: Hi Eoghan, thank you for taking some to speak to us today! Firstly we’d like to congratulate you on making it to Eurosong 2014!
Eoghan: Thank you!

X: Now, many people from Ireland and the UK may remember you from Xfactor 2008, but can you tell those who are unfamiliar with this more about your experience on the show?
E: It was the best experience I could ever dream of, I was only 16 at the time so Xfactor was a great platform to get my name out there in the music business.

X: What have you been up to since then?
E: I still do music such as gigs and also I’ve done musical theatre as well, and went back to school to get my GCSEs which I did
X: How did the idea of entering for Eurosong come about?
E: I received a call from Mark and he played me a great song and I just couldn’t refuse.
X: And how is it having Mark Murphy as your mentor?
E: Great! He is the best to have on board, he really wants the best for me and wants to make this a success.
X: Can you tell us more about ‘The Movie Song” and the message behind it?
E: Well it’s a great upbeat funky cool acoustic song, I really enjoyed recording it and can’t wait to perform it but Karl (songwriter) would be able to tell you the message behind the song better than I would.
[So of course we got in contact with Karl (Broderick) and he had this to say about the meaning behind the song:
“The movie song is saying I want life to be more like it is in the movies where the little guy who does the right thing wins out in the end…the bullys and bad guys eventually get their comeuppance. .even the geek can get the girl. We’re all told to be moral, do good and we are starting to question all of this when we look at politicians, bankers, ‘big business men’, getting away scott free. In the movies ‘Good’ would prevail.”]
X: What are your feelings on the fact that if you win Eurosong, you will be representing Ireland at Eurovision in Copenhagen?
E: It would be amazing to represent my country on the international stage, who wouldn’t!? Wow just thinking of it gives me goose pimples!
X:  Would you be a Eurovision fan yourself or have any memories from it?
E: Yeah I’ve watched it for a number of years now, I’ve never seen Ireland win it so maybe this year we can change that.
X: Lastly do you have any final messages for your fans and our escXtra readers?
E: Just want to thank everyone for the lovely support, I really appreciate it, and hopefully we will bring the movie song to the Eurovision and show it off to the rest of Europe.
