Muff are a relatively new band on the Slovenian music scene, but they attracted a lot of attention already with their first song. They are entering EMA this year for the very first time, and hoping to be the next Slovenian entrants in Eurovision.
We spoke to the band about their career, their entry, and also asked them about their performance tomorrow night, and much more. Read our interview with them right here:
escXtra: Hello Muff! First of all, thank you for taking your time out for doing this interview. Can you tell us a little bit about yourselves for the start, who are Muff?
Muff: Muff is a Slovenian “mainstream” band, formed in 2011. All members forming this group are professional musicians. Since our debut, the group had plenty of success. Our hit single “Naj sije v očeh” was most frequently played song on the radios in 2012 in Slovenia. All of the other singles also received a lot of media and radio attention. We believe our strong points are: a powerful vocalist, and a soulful song-writing team.
X: How did you decide to enter EMA this year?
M: We were invited by RTV Slovenia to participate. We decided quickly that it can be a good promotion of our music. EMA is the biggest show in our country. We recorded a demo song and showed it to RTV Slo. They were very much satisfied with it.
X: Can you tell us a little bit about your song, “Let Me Be Myself”?
M: The song is telling a story about an individual who is searching for his true identity in the world full of different trends and in the middle of a moral crisis. It’s a power ballad with strong vocals.
X: How are you preparing for this contest?
M: We had a few meetings with the people in charge of EMA. We have to adapt our stage performance to the stage that will be on the set. We also have vocal rehearsals. There were many possibilities regarding our visual image on EMA, but we worked it out and we can’t wait to perform on 8th of March.
X: Can you tell us a little bit about your stage performance, how is everything going to look like on the 8th of March?
M: We want to present our song as best as possible, but not overdo it. The performance will be powerful, and it will contain our identities as well. A bit of glamour and bit of attitude 🙂
X: What would representing Slovenia in Eurovision mean to you guys?
M: Representing your country is a big responsibility. We are not afraid of it, and we would do our best.
X: If you could do a collaboration with any of the other six acts in EMA, who would it be with, and why?
M: It depends. Our singer Senidah has quite a dominant and powerful voice, so a collaboration with a male singer could be interesting. There are a few in EMA this year.
X: Are you Eurovision fans, and have you got an all time favourite Eurovision song?
M: Of course we are. We love Dino Merlin and he was representing Bosnia & Herzegovina twice.
X: And finally, do you have a message for all your fans, and for all the readers of escXtra.com?
M: Yes, we would like to spread our music all over the globe, so feel free to check our Facebook page and our Youtube channel. Peace and love!
X: Thank you very much, and we wish you the best of luck in EMA!
M: Thank you, the pleasure was ours!
