After EBU’s report yesterday that Australia’s broadcaster SBS was going to be responsible for the interval of the second semifinal in Copenhagen, SBS has now announced that Jessica Mauboy will be their act for the semifinal.
Mauboy is a 24 year old singer from Darwin. She was the runner-up of the fourth series of Australian Idol and has had a successful career ever since. Her most well known singles are Burn and Pop A Bottle (Fill Me Up). For Eurovision 2014, SBS also revealed her plans on News.com.au:
They sent out a delegation recently to meet with Mauboy, who wrote a new song with Potbelleez hit maker Ilan Kidron last week to perform in a guest spot during the second semi-final.
While she has yet to decide on its title, Mauboy said the up-tempo song would not only reflect her indigenous heritage but resonate with the European cultures competing.
