Rotterdam 2021🇦🇱 Albania

🇦🇱 “Karma” to be revamped ahead of contest

The Albanian revamp tradition continues!

Anxhela Peristeri has confirmed on Twitter that her Eurovision 2021 entry, “Karma”, will be revamped ahead of the contest in Rotterdam. The song was the first to be selected for this year’s contest, after Anxhela won Festivali i Këngës on 23rd December.

It is not unusual for the Albanian entry to be revamped ahead of the contest – it is something that has been done regularly in the past few years, often seeing a change to English lyrics. However, Anxhela has already confirmed that her entry will be performed in Albanian at Eurovision.

Expect an ‘on fire’ revamp

At the moment, there is no confirmed date for the revamp’s release, however Anxhela has said on Twitter that the “revamp is gonna be fire”.

Last year, the revamp of Arilena Ara’s entry “Shaj”, titled “Fall From The Sky”, was released on 10th March – just eight days before the contest’s cancellation. Maybe we should expect to hear the new version of “Karma” around the same time?

Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest

The Balkan nation debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 with Anjeza Shahini’s “The Image of You”. The song qualifed from the semi-final in 4th place, and finished in a respectable 7th place in the final with 106 points.

Since then, Albania have made the final eight times, achieving their best result to date in 2012. Qualifying from the semi-final in 2nd place, Rona Nishliu brought home Albania’s first, and only, top 5 result with “Suus”.

Last year, Arilena Ara was set to represent Albania with “Fall from the Sky”, which would have been the country’s first English-language entry since 2017. Arilena was amongst the artists not invited back by their country in 2021. Instead, Anxhela Peristeri will represent Albania with her entry, “Karma”.

Are you happy that “Karma” will be revamped? What are you hoping to hear?
