Strong viewing figures

The UK has seen a rise (like a phoenix?) in their viewing figures of over 1 million compared to last year. Bonnie Tyler managed to get 7.7 million viewers (35.3%) whereas Molly Smitten-Downes got 8.8 million people (41.9%) to watch the show. In recent years interest in Britain has fluctuated, but this year shows a pattern of recovery from an all-time low in 2010 when Josh only managed to get 5.5 million (24.4%).
These figures may very well prove that there is no need to have a big name to get good viewing figures, but rather an act that can get a nation behind the artist. Molly was relatively unknown before she was selected to represent the UK through the BBC Introducing platform.
Molly came 17th in the Final with a total of 40 points.
