As many of the songs from this year’s Eurovision have been appearing in music charts throughout Europe, Ireland’s charts seem to be reaching new records!
The Netherlands have claimed the #4 spot this week, after coming in at #50 last week following their appearance in the first semi-final last Tuesday night.
7 of the 2014 entries feature in the Top 40, and overall 14 song in the Top 100. It seems the Irish public received the competing songs with open arms, regardless of Ireland’s non-participation in the Grand Final in Copenhagen.
Here is the list of the songs breaking into the Top 100:
#4 Calm After The Storm –ย Common Linnets
#10 Rise Like A Phoenix –ย Conchita Wurst
#21 Undo –ย Sanna Nielsen
#34 Silent Storm –ย Carl Espen
#36 Children of the Universe –ย Molly
#38 Clichรฉ Love Song –ย Basim
#39 Heartbeat –ย Canlinn ft. Kasey Smith
#49 Hunter of Stars –ย Sebalter
#60 Not Alone –ย Aram MP3
#72 Something Better –ย Softengine
#73 Rise Up –ย Freaky Fortune ft. RiskyKidd
#79 Moustache –ย Twin Twin
#88 Miracle –ย Paula Seling & Ovi
#92 Running –ย Andras Kallay-Saunders
#93 Coming Home –ย Firelight
Even Loreen’s Euphoria made a come-back, featuring at #84!
This somewhat reflects the results provided by Ireland, in combination of the public and jury votes. However the public votes did in fact vote The Netherlands higher than Austria, in places 2 and 3 respectively, with the top public votes for Poland.
With the Common Linnets reaching #4 on the Irish charts, it is the highest placed non-winner / non Irish Eurovision entry in Ireland to reach this placing since Mouth and McNeal, the Dutch duo, reached #1 in 1974 with “I See A Star”.
Provingย that the 7-time victor of Eurovision still have high interests in the competition, do you think they will make it an 8th any time soon?
We would love to hear your opinions!
