Yesterday evening Conchita Wurst performed at London’s nightclub Heaven. A massive queue of people waiting to see this year’s Eurovision winner started forming around 11:30 p.m. and plenty were left outside as the venue was full around midnight.
It was roughly 1:30 a.m. when Wurst took on the same stage that has seen artists like Cher, Madonna, Kylie Minogue or Rita Ora. But before Conchita made her appearance Graham Norton was in charge of introducing her.
She’s talented, she’s fabulous and she is unstoppable!
The crowd was already cheering madly for Conchita when she opened the show with an acoustic version of Cher’s ‘Believe‘. She performed it in her usual style, that is, flawlessly.
People were clearly expecting to listen ‘Rise Like A Phoenix’, but they’d have to wait, as the next song was a treat to Eurovision fans but completely new for the uninitiated. It was time for her previous attempt at reaching the Eurovision stage, ‘That’s What I Am‘.
A cheering crowd was about to receive what they had gone for. Third in the line up for the evening was Conchita’s Eurovision winning entry, ‘Rise Like A Phoenix‘. With the first note of the song the audience cheered enthusiastically and sang along through the three minutes.
When she finished, it seemed like it was it. She was about to receive her flowers as a thank you and walk away from stage, but applause and cheering would not stop.
That was it for the crowd, but not for escXtra, who exclusively met Conchita backstage and got the chance to speak with her. The interview will come at a later post, so stay tuned. Not only did we speak with Conchita, but we had a special appearance in the interview as well!
