Today, Serbian national broadcaster RTS officially announced their participation in the 2014 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The news was confirmed during this evening’s ‘Beogradska hronika’ show on RTS 1. Further details will be announced in due course. Serbia last competed at Junior Eurovision in 2010.
Since Moje 3’s participation in the 2013 senior contest, Serbia have not participated in any of the Eurovision brand events, so this news could be taken as a precursor to interest in returning to the Eurovision Song Contest in Austria.
Serbia twice achieved a best result of third place at Junior Eurovision; in 2010, when Sonja Škorić placed third in Minsk with her song “Čarobna noć” (Magical night) and in 2007 through Nevena Božović who went on to represent Serbia in the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö as part of group Moje 3.
The Junior Eurovision song contest will take place in Marsa, Malta on 15 November 2014. Serbia is the thirteenth country to formally confirm participation, already ensuring a larger field than in 2013.
