Portuguese broadcaster RTP have stated their intent to participate in the 60th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015. Hugo Andrada, RTP’s Director of Programming announced this decision in an interview with ESCPortugal, signalling an earlier confirmation by Portugal than has often been the case.
Suzy represented Portugal in 2014, narrowly missing out on qualification to the final which had raised some concerns as to whether Portugal’s return after a 2013 hiatus (for financial reasons) would be permanent. As yet, there is no confirmation of the selection process to pick an artist to go to Austria. Festival da Canção has traditionally been used to select the Portuguese entry, and there is no evidence to suggest that a change will be made to this procedure.
