Vienna 2015

It’s Vienna – Host City of 2015

Eurovision.tv have just announced that Vienna will be hosting the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest! The Wiener Stadthalle will host the semifinals on 19 and 21 May, followed by the grand final on 23 May.
Austria’s capital city won the bidding for hosting, beating Graz and Innsbruck to the post.
The EBU and ORF are very happy with the decision and said today:
Director General of ORF, Alexander Wrabetz

Vienna is the city of music and arts in the heart of Europe. Together we will do everything to assure a successful 60th Eurovision Song Contest

Executive Supervisor of ESC, Jon Ola Sand

We are very pleased with ORF’s decision to choose Vienna as the host city of the next Eurovision Song Contest. We are confident the city has the experience, people and the facilities to host the world’s foremost entertainment event. With the cooperation between Vienna, ORF and the EBU, I’m sure we’ll see three amazing shows in May.

In a previous escXtra post, we compared the three cities in the running – but Vienna proved that it has the capacity to hold max 16,000 in the now 2015 Venue; Wiener Stadthalle, accommodation of 62,000 beds, a wide variety of connections to the airport and offers so much more!
Will we be seeing you in Vienna?
