First artist for Melodifestivalen announced

Kalle Johansson has been announced as the first of the 32 competing artists in next year’s Melodifestivalen competition.
For the last few years, one of the slots in the Swedish national selection has been reserved for the winner of Svensktoppen Nästa, a national competition for new artists. This afternoon, the final took place in Gothenburg and a mixture of public and jury voting decided upon Kalle Johansson as the winner with his song ‘Den Där Dan’ (On That Day).
‘Den Där Dan’ will now receive heavy rotation on Sweden’s P4 radio station and official release on Sunday 28th September. Meanwhile, Kalle will be working on a new song to bring to Melodifestivalen 2015, which begins in February. He will be hoping to better the performances of previous Svensktoppen Nästa winners Therese Fredenwall and EKO, neither of whom made it out of their Melodifestivalen heats.
You can hear Kalle Johansson’s winning song (not the song with which he will compete at Melodifestivalen) here.
