In a press release, German broadcaster NDR has just announced that there will be a national final to select their act for Vienna. The show will be called Unser Song für Österreich and will be held on March 5 in Hannover. Rumours had been going around since last week that the show would indeed take place on March 5 after NDR launched the website earlier and then took it down again.
Eight acts will perform in the national final in Hannover. Seven of these will be relatively famous acts, the eighth act will be a wildcard, selected in the Clubkonzert. Last year, eventual USfD winners Elaiza were selected in this wildcard round. The mentor of this year’s wildcard will be Andreas Bourani, who takes over from Adel Tawil. Bourani is known for the official German World Cup song earlier this year, Auf Uns. Both shows, the Clubkonzert and Unser Song für Österreich, will be hosted by, once again, Barbara Schöneberger.
The broadcaster also announced to reveal the seven selected acts in January 2015. The Clubkonzert will take place on February 19. A group of representatives from broadcaster NDR, radio stations owned by ARD, the record labels Warner, Universal, Sony and a few independent labels and Brainpool will select the entrants for both shows.
