The submission period for the 53rd annual Festivali i Këngës has been announced. The contest is expected to choose Albania’s twelfth Eurovision Song Contest representative, though RTSH have not made a decision over participation in 2015. It shall be decided in October as to whether the winner of Festivali i Këngës 53 will go forward to the 60th Eurovision Song Contest or not.
Interested singers and songwriters can submit their demos on 14 and 15 October to Radio Tirana. Regarding the rules of the contest, RTSH plans to keep Festivali i Këngës traditional, despite some media and public criticisms. Both the performing artist and the songwriter must be ethnic Albanians, and songwriters can only submit one song.
The broadcaster hasn’t announced a final date yet, but it’s most likely to be held by the end of December in the Palace of Congress in Tirana.
