Ukraine has officially confirmed that they will not be participating in Vienna. In an announcement published in their official website, they argue financial and political instability, military aggression and anexation of Ukrainian territories. For such reasons, they want to focus on the construction of a public broadcasting service and optimising costs. They have put emphasis on the importance of the contest for Ukraine, but said that they can not bear the financial commitment that it requires and could not find resources elsewhere.
However, NTU hopes that their absence will be limited to 2015 and that by 2016 they will be able to make a return. In addition, it was stated that NTU will negotiate with the EBU to broadcast the shows even if Ukraine is not participating in them.
