Gianluca Bezzina tries to represent Malta with his siblings

EscXtra exclusively reveals that Malta’s 2013 hopeful, Gianluca Bezzina will try to represent Malta for the second time in the Eurovision Song Contest. The doctor feel good singer joined forces with his five other siblings and submitted a song for the Maltese selection which will take place on 22nd November 2014.
The Bezzina siblings are seven but only six will go on stage if their song will make it to the national final. Gianluca is expected to be the lead singer of the group. Both his sisters Dorothy and Samaria Bezzina were involved in past Maltese selections. Dorothy participated in three editions of the Maltese national final while Samaria accompanied Gianluca on stage in Malmö as a backing vocal. Last year, Gianluca put Malta back on a successful track. He did not only manage to qualify to the final but achieved a respectable 8th place in the grand final.
If the Bezzinas make it through the early stages of the Maltese selection, it will not be their first time to perform as a group. In the last national final the Bezzinas led by Gianluca gave a colourful performance during the interval act. Gianluca is not expected to be the sole high profile singer to return in the Eurovision scene. Local media stated that there are strong rumours about a possible return by Maltese star Ira Losco who brought one of Malta’s best results in the Eurovision Song Contest. Contacted by local news portal newsbook.com.mt, Ira Losco’s manager did not confirm or deny the rumours. In 2002, Losco ended up as runner-up with her song 7th Wonder, penned by Philip Vella and Gerard James Borg.
The number of songs submitted in the Maltese selection is unknown however various reports stated that the number of submissions decreased. The finalists of the Maltese selection will be revealed during the popular show, Xarabank on Friday 3rd October at 20:40 CET.
