Conchita prepares for an unusual audience – in more ways than one

Conchita Wurst’s incursions into the European public eye continue as she breaks new ground next week. An unusual audience will see the Eurovision winner perform, as well as getting in on that act themselves. Conchita’s summer has been full of media and public appearances, such as the crowd of 10,000 that witnessed her London Pride performance.
On Wednesday 8 October, Conchita will head to the headquarters of the European Union parliament in Brussels. At her short concert for the assembled dignitaries, her audience will wear Conchita-style fake beards for a photo opportunity. Will she have a message for Europe’s politicians? We shall see.
This is not the first time that a Eurovision act has performed at the European parliament. Bulgaria’s Sofi Marinova sang Roma classics and ambushed MEPs with her polyglotastic 2012 entry ‘Love unlimited’ in Brussels, shortly before heading to Baku.
