According to mako.co.il, Israel will send the winner of HaKokhav HaBa to Vienna next year. The talent show is known as Rising Star in other countries.
After months of uncertainties surrounding Israel’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015, it now seems to be confirmed that the talent show will be the way to decide Israel’s next entrant. It has however not yet been announced how the song for the HaKokhav HaBa winner will be chosen.
Israel has been struggling to get a good result in Eurovision for a few years now. Their last top ten finish was six years ago, in 2008 when Boaz sang The Fire In Your Eyes. None of the acts that followed him managed to reach the top ten, with the last four acts even failing to qualify for the grand final. Last year, Mei Finegold represented the country with Same Heart. Even though she was a favourite to many, she failed to qualify, finishing 14th in her semifinal.
