In the build-up to the first national final of the season, Skopje Fest, escXtra.com spoke to one of the contestants: Lena Zatkoska! Lena will participate with her song Alo. Read what she had to say below!
escXtra.com: Hey Lena! First of all, thank you for taking the time to speak to us! How are you, such a short time before Skopje Fest?
Lena Zatkoska: I wish I could say I’m great, but I’ve just got a virus, so I’m hoping I will get well very soon…
X: Could you tell us something about yourself?
L: I was born in Melbourne, Australia and have lived there my whole life, 3 years ago I came to live in Macedonia, I have performed all over Australia and competed in many music festivals in Macedonia, including Makfest and Ohrid Fest and I was on X-Factor Serbia. My biggest achievement till now is singing at the Sydney Opera House.
X: Who are your musical idols?
L: My music idols include, Céline Dion, Whitney Houston, Toše Proeski, and ABBA.
X: The random song choice from YouTube: What can you tell us about the song I Will Always Love You?
L: I Will Always Love You is one of my favourite songs by Whitney Houston. Although it’s not originally her song, she has made it her own and has so much emotion in her singing and portral of the song.
X: Why do you want to go to Eurovision?
L: I’ve been waking up at 3am every year in Australia to watch Eurovision live. It’s been my dream since I was a little girl.
X: What can we expect from your song Alo?
L: As I am opening the festival, I think it’s good that an up beat fun song…I love it and hope you all will as well!
X: You’re up against some good competition. What’s going to be your secret to win?
L: No secret… I’m just going to sing and have fun…whatever happens, happens 🙂
X: Is Eurovision an annual event to watch for you? Are you a Eurovision fan?
L: Yesss!!!! Like I said, in Australia I would wake up 3am to watch it…bonus that I’m in Macedonia and don’t have to wake up early…last 3 years I’ve rounded up friends and family and watch it at a normal time..:) I am a big fan of Eurovison!!!
X: Do you have an all time favourite Eurovision song?
L: Céline Dion and ABBA!!!
