Nina Janeva: “You can expect true blues and a lot of emotions.” [Interview]

In the build-up to the first national final of the season, Skopje Fest, escXtra.com spoke to one of the contestants: Nina Janeva! Some of you will remember her as one of the backing vocals for Esma and Lozano in 2013. Now, Nina will participate on her own with her song Bluz za…. Read what she had to say below!
escXtra.com: Hey Nina! First of all, thank you for taking the time to speak to us! How are you, such a short time before Skopje Fest?
Nina Janeva: Hello there..  Well while I’m doing this interview I am in Macedonian Radio Television,  and we are having rehearsal with the orchestra. My dress is ready, my band is ready to go on stage, my scenario is ready, everything is in progress 🙂 I feel like I’m doing the right thing, because I love singing blues.. I simply enjoy it. This time I’ll  be on my court 🙂
X: Could you tell us something about yourself?
N: I am 28 years old, and I have been within the music circles for almost 20 years. When I was 9,I sang in the Children’s Choir of The Macedonian Radio Television, then I was taking private lessons for solo singing. When I was 17 I won a national election called “Play in search for new talents” and I have been on the scene ever since. My Producer in M2 production was the composer and produser of Elena Risteska’s Eurovision “Ninanajna” , last year’s “Pred da se razdeni” of Esma and Lozano (when I was a back vocal in Malmo) , and Tijana’s “To the Sky” – Darko Dimitrov.
During the time as an exclusive singer of M2 Producion we made 1 album called “Before midnight” as a female pop-rock group of 4 girls.
Last year I participated on Skopje fest for the first time, and I can only say that it was amazing to work with the orchestra of the Macedonian Radio Television, a freat honnor above all. For this year’s Skopje Fest all I want is to hang out with my friends and colleagues, and then to win 🙂 I hope you’ll like my song and my lucky no. 19 🙂
X: Who are your musical idols?IMG_201952530205620
N: Well Beyonce, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner,  Whitney Houston…
X: The random song choice from YouTube: What can you tell us about the song Odam Pak?
N: “Odam pak”  was a gentle ballad that I sang for last year’s Skopje Fest. It is about my life, about all the ups and downs, rises and falls, about all that I have to fight about, about the music being my first and most deep love. I had really good time working on it, and singing in front of Orchestra which is filled with highly talented professionals.
X: Why do you want to go to Eurovision?
N: I had the opportunity to be a part of the Eurovision story last year in Malmo Sweden as a backing vocal of Esma and Lozano, and I really liked the chance to represent the colors of my country on such glamorous event, even though I myself am a rebel 🙂
X: What can we expect from your song Bluz za…? Will it be true blues?
N: You can expect true blues and a lot of emotions. I hope for it to be a hit cause I really, really like it 🙂
IMG_202075133521466X: You were a backing vocal for Esma & Lozano back in 2013. How do you look back on that experience?
N: It is an experience that I wish for every singer or musician to have. The stage, the sound, meeting new people, new cultures and traditions… It has very good aspects, and a lot of hard work. Although I was mad and disappointed that we didn’t enter the final I still want to try hard and earn the right to be on that stage.
X: Is Eurovision an annual event to watch for you? Are you a Eurovision fan?
N: I wouldn’t say a fan, but I watch it every year as an only music refreshment on European level 🙂
X: Do you have an all time favourite Eurovision song?
N: Well I have many songs that I love, first of all Where are you by Imaani, then Euphoria by Loreen, Crno i belo by Kaliopi, Rak Bishvilo by Moran Mazor from Israel, and many more.
X: Finally, do you have a message for the readers of escXtra.com?
N: I would like to tell them only to live every day like it’s the last one, and let it be filled with music and little sweet moments 🙂
Love from Macedonia <3
