Junior EurovisionMalta 2014

First impressions from the venue for JESC 14

Malta is about to start experiencing two weeks of Eurovision madness. Today week the Mediterranean island will for the first time host a Eurovision family event i.e. the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. A week after it will hold it’s national final in the same venue for the junior contest, i.e. the Malta Shipbuilding Arena.
EscXtra is in Malta and will be reporting live the 12th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Delegations from sixteen different countries and foreign press have just started to arrive in Malta. The Press Centre is expected to open tomorrow afternoon. EBU acclaimed PBS (host broadcaster) for the great effort and preparations which ran in full swing in the past months. Infact the stage is very impressive and all things are shaping up, just on time for next week’s rehearsal schedule.
Meanwhile the welcome reception will take place tomorrow and will be streamed live on PBS (host broadcaster). During this reception, to take place at Verdala (summer residence for the President of Malta), a draw will take place to determine the running order of the contest.

A ‘pre-draw’ was held yesterday to determine the order for the countries to pick lots at the welcome reception. The pre-draw was conducted by Moira Delia (host of JESC 14) and Gaia Cauchi (last year’s JESC winner) and  supervised by EBU Executive Supervisor Vladislav Yakovlev.
The pre-draw result is as follows;
Malta (will select their running position at random), Croatia, Bulgaria, San Marino, Montenegro, Cyprus, Slovenia, Russia, The Netherlands, Belarus, Serbia, Sweden, Italy, Georgia, Ukraine and Armenia.
