The song representing Slovenia in the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo has been released: RTV Slovenija has premiered ‘Veronika’, performed by Raiven.

Slovenia’s song for Eurovision 2024

For the second year in a row, the song representing Slovenia has been decided through an internal selection, rather than their longstanding national final EMA. Last year, Joker Out were fan favourites in Liverpool, helping their country qualify for the final for the first time since 2019. Will this new process work as well for a second year?

Hoping it will is Raiven, who was announced as this year’s Slovenian entrant back in December. Having previously tried to represent her country three times, she was internally selected with the song ‘Veronika’ by the Slovenian broadcaster RTVSLO. Written alongside Klavdija Kopina and Bojan Cvjetićanin (the frontman of last year’s Slovenian entry, Joker Out), ‘Veronika’ is based on the real-life tale of Veronika Deseniška, who was accused of witchcraft and is a well-known figure in Slovenian history.

After weeks of anticipation, ‘Veronika’ has made its debut: listen to Slovenia’s Eurovision 2024 entry below!

Slovenia in Eurovision

2024 marks Slovenia’s 30th participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, including the cancelled Contest in 2020. They have come in the top 10 three times, including two 7th place finishes in 1995 and 2001.

Raiven will be aiming to continue a qualification streak for the final after Joker Out qualified in 2023 with their song, ‘Carpe Diem’. What do you think, can ‘Veronika’ by Raiven continue this momentum?
