Rehearsal review

Rehearsing today for Spain inside La Seine Musicale is Levi Díaz, performing “Reír”. As the first rehearsals are closed to the press, this review is based upon content made public by the EBU and France Télévisions.

Spain’s upbeat entry has a staging that perfectly matches the song. Like many performances before his, Levi is joined by a group of backup dancers, 4 of them this time. The background is a colourful city skyline with shops and neon lights on the sides. It is very interesting to note that Spain has some props on the stage as well, something that was missing from the previous rehearsals. Specifically, large constructions that kind of resemble a bus, with windows and a door. There are 2 of them on the stage.

There is fast choreography in the song, but this does not seem to impact Levi’s vocal performance. It is clear that Spain went for a happy, urban vibe with this staging, which was a great idea. It matches the song and could definitely make it stand out. The clip does not show much of Levi participating in the choreography himself, so we will have to wait and see if the joins the dancers as well.
