Vienna 2015

258 songs received for Söngvakeppnin

Icelandic broadcaster RÚV has received 258 submissions for their national final, Söngvakeppnin 2015. Twelve of these songs will be chosen to take part in the semifinals.
RÚV also revealed that there will once again be three shows to select the Icelandic entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. Two semifinals and a final will determine who’s flying the Icelandic flag in Vienna. The semifinal shows will take place on 31 January and 7 February, with the final taking place a week later on 14 February.
The participating twelve acts will be revealed at a later date. 258 submissions means that RÚV has received 41 songs (about 13%) less than last year, when 297 songs were received. Out of these 297, Pollapönk won the right to represent Iceland in Copenhagen, where their song No Prejudice finished fifteenth in the final.
