Estonian broadcaster ERR has just announced that 219 songs have been submitted for Eesti Laul 2015.
This represents another record breaking haul for the Estonian broadcaster, trumping last year’s 189 which at the time was also a record breaking number.
On the large number and diversity of this year’s intake, executive producer Heidy Purga commented that
I feel proud. With little exaggeration I could say that everyone is represented: old known songwriters/singers and new talents. The competition is going to be awesome!
The selected jury will on Thursday eliminate 199 songs from the running until we have just 20 remaining. Then it is expected that the semi-finalists will be revealed during the Thursday evening edition of current affairs program ‘Ringvaade’ which screens at 19:00 Estonian time (18:00 CET).
