Emma Marrone returns in Sanremo as a presenter

Last year’s Italian hopeful, Emma Marrone will be one of the hosts of the 65th edition of the Sanremo festival. Marrone and Arisa are the two revealed female assistants to the main male host i.e. Carlo Conti.
Emma and Arisa won the prestigious Italian festival in 2012 and 2014 respectively. The two singers will also be accompanied by Spanish actress and model, Rocio Munoz Morales. The reaction about the choice of two past Sanremo winners as “le vallette” (female assistants) was mixed. The popular Italian presenter Maria De Filippi advised Emma and Arisa “to remain 10 steps behind Carlo Conti”.

Last month the national broadcaster RAI announced the twenty acts in the Campioni (Champions) category. Amongst those in contention to win the trophy at the Ariston theatre, there are Raf (ESC 1987), Lara Fabian (ESC 1988) and Nina Zilli (ESC 2012).
In September, the Italian television stated that the winner of the Sanremo Festival will go on to represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest. It is not yet clear whether the winning song will automatically go to Eurovision, or just the artist, but stay tuned for more information!
