After much speculation (and an early reveal by the artist herself!) broadcaster TVE has confirmed that pop-singer Edurne will represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna, Austria this coming May.
The song will be named ‘Amanecer’ and it will be fully performed in Spanish. Edurne says that it is a style with which Spain has never participated in Eurovision. She described it as “quality pop”. She also said that from the first listen she fell in love with it. The reason for deciding to do it was the song. She said that this is something that she had wanted to do for a while but hadn’t find a song with which to do it. The composer is Tony Sanchez-Ohlsson, who was also behind Pastora Soler’s Eurovison entry. There is currently no set date for the presentation of the song.
The singer – who has also performed as an actress and TV presenter – was discovered like many Spanish Eurovision representatives before her, on the talent show Operación Triunfo in 2005. While she finished in sixth place on the show, she continued on to stardom, having released five albums under Sony BMG in Spain.
I am very happy, with a lot of enthusiasm, I can’t wait for 23 May to give my everything in Vienna. This is the most important thing that has ever happened in my career.
Edurne is aged 29 and comes from the Spanish capital, Madrid.
